Linseed varnish is usually used as a thinner for oil varnish and paints and oil glazier´s putty. It is also used as a traditional natural remedy for protecting wood against weathering. Emphasizes the natural look of the wood. It increases the mechanical resistance of wood and slows down the penetration of moisture into the wood. The varnish increases the resistance of wood against damaging and the coating is easily repaired.
BENEFITS
- traditional wood protection
- highlights the grain of the wood
- does not contain solvents
SURFACE PREPARATION
Before the application, the timber surface shall be clean, dry, well smoothened, with max. 12% humidity and free of resin residues. The timber surface with high content of resins (larch, pine) shall be cleaned of all resin residues, e.g. by washing by BALTECH C6000 nitro-solvent.
WORKFLOW
After application on wood, the varnish dries slowly and shrinks slightly. It does not create a "lacquer surface", but soaks into the pores of the wood and thus emphasizes the texture of the wood. The impregnated wood turns yellow (amber color) and darkens over time. Soft wood can absorb more varnish than hard wood, thus the varnish also hardens (dries) longer.
